Facebook is Evil

Ironically enough, I found this link via the Open Source Resistance facebook group:

http://albumoftheday.com/facebook/

The facts about the TOS allowing for datamining made it to the cover of the May 25th Vancouver 24 Hours, but that flash (from LAST year) points out the owners and affiliates are far more dangerous than a simple data mining TOS.

The other intereresting thing is that the logo for the Information Awareness Office contains the same Illuminati logo that the US one dollar bill does.  That and Office’s interest was to “[achieve] total information awareness”?  I find that mildly disturbing to say the least.

Shriek Shriek Shriek

On monday I took the whole fam-damily to the movies to see the monstorous advertising campaign that is: Shrek 3.  I had well prepared myself by watching Shrek 2, with my good friends Coke and Bacardi.  I really liked the first Shrek and thought it was great, but knowing most trilogies spawned by sales figures, I wasn’t expecting much.  Baring that, I have to admin that Shrek 2 was quite good, not quite as good as the first, but definentally a quality family movie none-the-less.

With the second movie freshly in my mind, I partook in the viewing of the third movie, with my neck craned up as the front row was the only place where we could get four steats side-by-side.  Now despite the bad viewing angle, I still managed to watch and enjoy the movie.  However, it is pretty much the same as the second movie, except with a different plot.  The jokes are pretty much similar, the apex is similar, the points about believing in yourself are similar.  (Despite the fact that Shrek refuses to be King because he doesn’t believe he can.  Smart ogre?  Hypocrite?)

I will give Dreamworks props for the most creative use of a Led Zeppelin song in a movie I’ve seen thusfar.  But I will  also wave my parental finger of shame at them for throwing a Hooters reference into a family movie.

Overall it was a good movie, but just another Shrek movie.  A good movie to rent or *cough* borrow (via the internet) at some point, bot not worth the $9+ movie ticket price by any means.  Unless, of course, you are babysitting children, then I would call it 2 hours well spent.

Excitement(!!!)

This was writen on May 20th, but I missed the “publish” button, so it was never posted.  Oops!

Last night, I spent the night drinking rum & cokes and watched Shrek 2.  It’s such an exciting life.

However, I have been updating my movie to watch list.  I have almost 40 movies on it now, including two or three I’ve seen now.

I listened to both Linkin Park’s and My Chemical Romance’s new albums.  Can someone please tell me who thought being “political” and making “epic rock” albums was a good idea for pop bands?  I haven’t killed anyone lately, and they deserve it.

I may get into details later, but Sonic Rush and Super Paper Mario are both quite good.  In fact, I may end up adding SPM to my work’s library of Wii games.

The Pandasaurus

For Steven, who’s wall I randomly wrote this on….

Once upon a time, a long long time ago, japan used to sit ontop of china.  Kinda like Sigil sits overtop of the Planes.  (geek++)  At that time all there was were dinosaurs, a monkey, a spider, and Dick Clark.  Now Dick, being the nice guy that he is, was showing bloopers of “My Priordial Soup” and “All My Children I Didn’t Eat” for the spider and the monkey.  He even invited all the dinosaurs.  EXCEPT, for one little one.  Now this one was black and white… (cause his mommy dropped him a lot.  Too busy knocking back the bottle, if you know what I mean.)  So the little spottysaurus was sad cause he wasn’t invided and wasn’t cool.  So he cried, and cried, and wept and wallowed and bellyached and snivled and shrieked and carried on (much like this) and cried and cired till he turned blue and started choking.  Then he stopped, caught his breath, aaaaand … started crying some more.

BUT, after all of that he got up and go mad.  He said “And that is why you should never eat corkflakes! GOODBYE CRUEL FISHSTICK!”  And walked off the edge of japan.  But, because japan was overtop of china (and he was used to being dropped from high heights.  I mean, c’mn, dinosaurs are tall.)  he landed in a field of rice and had a very nice concusion-induced nap.  When he woke up, he found the rice had stuck to him, but because he was so big, he rolled on it and streched it out till it was whispy thin.  The poor little stoppysaurus was so upset and hurt and scared and confused by the rice he was covered in he kept rolling around trying to get it off.  Not that he didn’t eat rice like every day, but this rice just wouldn’t get off of him, and it kept streching and streching.  So finally, exhaused and coverd from head to toe in whispy rice strains, he fell asleep again.  (Spottysauruses and narcaleptic, you know.  Especially when they panic and fall several hundred miles from the sky.)  When he woke up, he found he was still covered in the whispy rice, yet it had absorbed his black spots from his scales somehow.  So tired was he of fighting that he gave up and grabbed the first thing he saw and started chewing so slowly on it.  (About this time the brain damage was kicking in too.)  Of course, (becuse this story wouldn’t make sense if he didn’t) he had grabbed bamboo and started chewing on it.  So now he was a black and white furry dinousaur that was chewing on bamboo.

And that is the story of the Pandasaurus.

Soup in the Veins

Thanks to Lasse Gjersen’s Amature video, there have been several clones of varying quality. One that workd out really well is one called Soup Injection.

I ended up checking out Soup’s myspace page, (because the other website doesn’t work) and found that I quite enjoy a few of their sounds, even with the simple and melodic nature of their work. There’s something catchy, yet calming about their hooks, and it works well.

If the You Tube video was of any interest, I would recommend checking out the original Ambulance for Human and My Justine on Soup’s myspace page.

BTW, if you missed it, the link is Soup’s myspace page.

Slumberland of sweet nightmares?

Rockabye Baby! is the product of a truly twisted mind.  It “transforms timeless rock songs into beautiful instrumental  lullabies, sending your little one to a slumberland of sweet dreams”, as the website says.  Now, that seems like a nice concept … until you look at some of artists which they choose to “transform”:

Björk
Metallica
Nine Inch Nails
Pink Floyd
Radiohead
The Ramones
Tool

And more…

So far, I’ve managed to get the Pink Floyd album, but I still want to listen to a few others. It’s something I have to hear, I just can’t imagine it. Still, the idea of little infants sleeping to the “soothing” sound of NIN or Tool makes me wonder about the present and the future of that poor child.

Lasse Gjertsen

Lasse Gjertsen is a Norgwegian film student studying in some english speaking country. He’s also pretty popular on YouTube, and I think I agree with the common people on this one.

These videos are what I think are his best, and are pretty damn cool.

Lasse vs Teknologi II
Lasse’s translation: I’m basiaclly saying :”Oooh, finally done with the project.. SHit, I have to save! What the fuck? What the FUCK?! WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU DOING?!” And then a heap of beautyful norwegian cusswords. Then: “Noooo.. All of my porno! Dammit..”

Lasse vs Teknologi II

C’mon, you know you’ve wanted to do that!

Embed this, bitch!

Ok, what the hell is with Word Press and embedding objects?  I spent 20 minutes fighting with the code editor on my last post, yet only one of the three you tube videos embeded themselves properly!

Worst of all, it keeps eating my tags!  I added BR tags and embed code tags, but when I got to edit the post, THEY ARE GONE!  WHAT THE HELL???

I think I need to read the manual.

<some time passes…>

Well I managed to get it working, but not without COMPLETELY destroying the original post and having to delete it!  Some how word press decided that I wanted to embed the editor’s HTML code… INTO MY POST!

*sigh*
