Skinny 20’s Male + Surrey == Instant Trouble?

I have now been approached by the police a total of two times in cases where I fit the description of a wanted felon.

The first time was a few months ago at the imfamous Surrey Central Station bus loop, where I was approached by a police officer during the middle of the day.  (This was well before the Translink RCMP branch exisited.)  Basically, they asked me for ID, question me about some basic things – where I was coming from, where I was going, where do I live, etc — and followed standard  prcedure.  The best part was when the officer holding my license turned to his partner and showed him my ID, exlaiming: “Looks an auful lot like him, doesn’t he!”  It was kinda odd, but rather reassuring to hear that from the officer.  I was let go after maybe 5 minutes of questions and what not.

The second time was around 11 pm at night, and I’d just gotten off the bus after a long day at work.  The bus stop is a mere 5 minutes from my house and is right infront of the now-defunct Delta Community Police station.  This, ironically enough, is where the cop “pulled” me over.  (I was on foot.)  I was standing at the corner of the street when the ghost car stops in front of me.  I waited to let him go, but instead he does a U-turn in the intersection, flips on the lights and pulls me and another guy over.  Now both of us had just gotten off the bus, and I’d done this before, so I knew we were fine.  But, we get pulled over anyways.

The cop was nice enough to move us under the cover, right infront of the defunct station, and ask us for ID.  This time, though, the cop acually ran our names through dispatch to check on us, (yay?), then the usual questions and we were on our way.

The funny part was is the kid I was pulled over with told me that he just came back from a graduation party.  (I assume he just finished high school judging from his looks.)  So, he was drunk (although speaking clearly) and had a pocket full of weed.  It was damn funny, considdering he was “shitting his pants” while I was rather calmly being checked by the police.

All this has led me to assume I just happen to look like trouble.  I wonder if I should get a new ID just in case I get checked again sometime soon.
