Jackpot

Using my crackpot theory of lotteries, I managed to win $10 of the huge $48 million dollar 6/49 from saturday.  Not bad for a $2 investment.  Maybe I’ll get ironic and win the $4 million this week instead!  (Probably not … I considder playing the lottery throwing money away, but hey, it’s fun.)

Managed to get a good raid of mangas from the library today.  Very much need to finish off and post my anime/manga list in better form.  (Books to watch?)

But I managed to get these:

Been wanting X/1999 for a while, because it looks neat, but they always seem to have #14 when I need #1.  Not sure about Lady Snowblood or Line, but they seemed interesting enough to grab.  Can’t be any worse that Heavenshield!

The downside, of course, to all this luck is that the rains have started.  Oh how I hate the bloody rains.  I live in the wrong city….

Some things

They tell you as a kid to make you into an easier victim

Fucking Catholics.

Anyways….

Someone is finally doing it right: Guitar Rising.  A music game that actually uses a real instrument!  I’m starting to bore of the repetativeness of guitar hero / rock band.  While I still enjoy it immensely, I don’t get DLC, so I’m “very” limited in my song selection.  However, while this may be the same, the concept seems excelent.  I play guitar daily, so it’s even better!

Saddlebackers Win!

So my favourite deffinition has won!  Check out the website all the details!

Haven’t been able to post in a week due to a lovely CWS-like trojan virus.  Been blasting the system, in safe mode under the admin account, with AVG and AAW.  Haven’t got it all, but I’m close!  Going to try out malwarebytes tomorrow as well.

Finished my second D&D Session saturday night.  Was a bit disorganized still, but got to use my Mama Blink Bunny and her babbies.  Nothing like a non-denomination priest killing little baby bunnies by falling on them.  I may spec out the blink bunny for others to use aswell.

For those of you that are into the Gaming Industry and its inner workings, check out The Georgia Straight this week.  Big article on the family tree of game development in Vancouver.  Interesting read, and included a detailed PDF on their site that even included my company! ^_^  Interesting being in one of the oldest founding gaming comanies in Vancouver, yet being totally unknown.

Ended up not working today due to  stomach flu.  Watched the wife take the whole day off to play a video game.  The eldest is recovering from a cold, but still, everyone took the day off, which was odd, but I suppose necessary.  However, having her phone the upstairs with her cell to check on me was … unpleasant … to say the least.  And I still managed to do dishes and some laundry, which the wife just now decided to continue doing.

Head Down

Well I got me the DVD for Sacramento for the NIN LITS tour. Very nice quality, fast torrent download, just excelent! One single angle from the back of the crowd, but it nicely captures the whole expereince!
If you missed it, grap the torrent here if you want it.  Stupid Demonoid and their limitation of torrent downloads when they are popular!

Straight to Video

I’m sure the bigs news today has been Obama’s Inauguration, but really, I have nothing to say about that.  I’m excited, I’m glad, but it explains itself.  Now we sit back and find out just how much of that was true.  (Albeit, I beleive almost all of it was.)

Around here, things have been very odd.  I tried to get some decent pictures of thee crazy fog we’ve had for almost two weeks, but no luck.  Each night it seems to get thicker, to the point that it becomes almost Silent Hill-eque.  My crazy co-worker, (the partner-in-crime on the desk wrapping), wants to make a Pyramid Head costume and wander around with an air raid siren blaring.  I’d love to help, but the fog will (hoepfully) be gone before this can come to fruition.

I finally found out what “The Gift” from NIN was.  405 gigabyes of raw unedited footages, torrented and hosted for editing and fan-made DVD creation!

They included data from three shows, Sacramento, Portland and …. Victoria!  I do not have the ability to edit, but I am anxiously awaiting the many DVDs and videos that will come.  I ranted and raved about the Lights in the Sky concert when I saw it, and it truly is an experience that deserves a recording to immortalize it in the digital era of cheap pop music.  I am vastly excited, and knowing how the fans are, I’m sure at least one DVD will be made!

Oh, and 320 kbps rips of the Victoria audio!  Getting it now as I post. http://www.megaupload.com/?d=X2OTDDIW

Season for Giving

I know this is a little late, but I’ve been too busy to make an entire section for it.

My one coworker was out of town for all of december, so before the Christmas break, we decided to get him a gift.

Before

6 rolls of wrapping paper later

But wait, it gets better!  He liked it so much that THIS is how he used it today!

I have plent of images of the whole rapping process, because we wrapped everything on his desk.  Each pen, penil, CD, etc.  Yet, it’s still half covered!

Check it out!

My many thanks to aiwazz for the recording and posting of it!

Fallout 3

Not only is this the third game I’ve bought in three months, it’s the first I’ve pre-ordered.  (And considdering how much of a gamer I claim to be….that’s pretty sad!)

I’ve been playing it pretty much for a week-and-a-half, in between working my ass off, so I haven’t gotten that far.  But, good old Aleph is still alive and well in the wasteland, and I am still vastly entertained.  This first run, like most people’s, will be a good-ish character with some charm, smarts, and quick talking skills.  Let’s just hope super mutant behemoths speak english….

The one major thing I am glad for is that it is not Oblivion with guns.  More so, it is Fallout with the perks of Oblivion graphics.  While the combat is not turn-based like the old Fallouts, there is still enough reasons to use VATS during combat that it makes it very worthwile.  Heck, even the original Fallouts were not fully turn-based, just the combat was.

The leveling system and experience does not focus soely on killing things.  You get XP from lots of other things that can make combat a more expensive options.  Hey, stimpacks and bullets aren’t free, you know.  (Well, limited at least.)  Plus, the stats and skill system is alot simpler, and entirely Fallout driven.  There’s only 20 levels, maybe 25 skills, and a smalelr focus on leveling over surviving and getting the better shot off in the end.  Plus, skills only go up when you level, not by using them, so you won’t be jumping everywhere you walk anymore!  (No atheltics skill either!)

—-

One of the curious things I’ve found, given that I have a medium-low-end computer, is that the PC version is very crashy when using VATS or the Pip-Boy.  Surprsingly, this seems to be VERY common, and I’ve come across the weirdest solution: stop using fullscreen.  This actually works!  I get better performance and NO VATS/Pip-Boy/Chest crashes!  Bloody odd!  I hope they fix this soon!

The other weird thing is that there is no editor…yet.  There are some mods, but mostly peopel are still trying to add mod support for others.  Considdering it’s running the highly-moddable Oblivion engine, I find this very odd.  It even uses the same ESM/ESP data files, just of a different version, and has options for adding Data Files!  They better release an editor, or at least some good add-on packs.  Or some lovely expansions….Bethesda should hook up with Steven King and add Maryland to the world!  That’d be hilarious…and hopefully very freaky.

—–

I have a bunch more points and stuff, but for the sake of SPOILERS I’ve hidden them behind the break.  Pretty much game tips and silly things, but hey, it’s a game worth playing so I won’t spoil it.

30KFT

Assemblage 23 - 30KFT

An amazing a beautifuly tragic song. Runs along the lines of Roger Water’s When the Tigers Broke Free and Four Minutes, from The Wall and Radio KAOS respectively. Damn, if those two were able to collaborate, I’d swear they could create the greatest cross-genre operatic musical tragedy in existence.

Behind the more is an attempted SeeqPod embeded link to the song. Lemme know if it works.
